Evil in the Funk

I remember way back in the day, the feel-good R&B music that didn't have to be censored. Groups like the Commodores, Earth wind and fire, and Parliament-Funkadelic. I didn't know much about what they're saying, just the hook and music. I do remember some pretty strange album covers and videos of their concerts. I like about 99% of most people that had an assumption that the intent was to be cool and stand out from everyone else. It turns out that there were more to the lyrics and album covers of groups like Earth wind and fire, Parliament, the Jacksons, and many others. Truthfully, some of these groups for into dark evil things that most people were unaware of. The above picture is one of the logos of the “Process Church”. The Process Church of the Final Judgment, commonly known as the Process Church, was a religious group established in the United Kingdom in 1966. Its founders were the British couple Mary Ann MacLean and Robert de Grimston. This was the church where Charles Manson was a member. They taught the use of psychology techniques to influence people and to their belief system. It's difficult for me to understand how George Clinton and many other black groups during the 70s began to follow this twisted church. Some of Funkadelic's lyrics included the teachings from the process Church. It is important to look into this connection because the popular perception is that secular black artists aren't into the occult or Satanism. Many black music artists have begun to go this route but don't acknowledge that they have their audiences. I've included some album covers from some of these groups to help illustrate what there are about.
Earth, Wind, and Fire:
In an article written by April Peavey for PRI's "The World", she describes the influence of visiting Egypt had on the Earth, Wind, and Fire, bandleader Maurice White:
“He lays out where his intellect has taken him and the band in the song "All About Love " a tune from the band's 1974 album That's the Way of the World.
In the tune, White says the band has studied all kinds of cult science, astrology, mysticism, and world religion — and if you come from a hip place he says, "all these things help because they give you insight into your inner self."

It’s important to remember that the devil is cunning and subtle. His tactics of sneaking spells and evil into music should be expected. Most people, like me, get caught up in the beats, catchy hooks, or talents of the artists without listening to what they are saying. Because of this, we're often shocked when we hear about an artist we may like being into the occult or false religions. Earth, Wind, and Fire produced some nice feel-good music that could make people feel emotionally charged and want to dance. Unfortunately, they were preaching a false religion within the notes and beats of their music. The devil is consistent with the tactics he uses. He disguises things that are deadly or harmful within things that look good, feels good, or sounds good. Music with spells in the lyrics or music will almost always sound good and appealing by design. The term “hook” in music is almost literal. Once you’ve been hooked it’s very difficult to stop listening.
Parliament-Funkadelic:
The bands Funkadelic and Parliament (P-Funk) lead by George Clinton have not claim to be innocent, wholesome, or family-oriented. Their album covers pretty much say it all. I dared not put any of their R-rated album covers in this lesson. Their songs have heavy basslines, funky beats, and catchy lyrics. In the 70s and 80s, they had an innovative sound unlike anyone else. Their stage show usually included a huge entourage of dancers, musicians, and light show with a spaceship. During their concerts, George Clinton often spoke about rebellion and revolution in the black community. Due to the civil rights movement and racial unrest many black people openly accepted his message. Unfortunately, the rebellion and revolution that was inspired against the government and racial injustices were also turned against God in the church. The black culture in America began to enter the sexual revolution and rebellion that had engulfed white America a decade earlier in the 60s. George Clinton and Bootsy Collins claim to have gotten their inspiration from an alien encounter. Numerous articles and interviews chronicle their description of an alien who descended in a spaceship and gave them the idea of the funk. Of course, we know and alien didn't give them the "funk", an evil spirit gave it to them to influence black people. Music has a way of influencing people that can't be reached by any other means.
Michael Jackson:
Michael Jackson and the Jackson five stole the hearts of America in the early 70s. Everyone seemed to be drawn in and impressed by this young group of black brothers who displayed incredible talent on TV and the stage. No one had seen so much talent from one family. Led by Michael Jackson, the Jackson five produce hit song after you hit song for two decades before Michael Jackson went solo. This allowed Michael Jackson to develop a place in the hearts of millions because if everyone felt they had grown up with him. He grew up with the perception of innocence which gave him instant acceptance with almost everyone. When Michael produced his first album "Off the Wall", parents were buying it for their children. Over time as Michael Jackson's music became more compromised, people's moral and spiritual standards changed to accept whatever he was doing. This caused even Christians to lower their standard of acceptance towards Michael’s music and other forms of music and entertainment. The music industry took advantage of Michael Jackson's influence and injected it with the teachings of Alister Crowley's occult "Book of the law" spells and teachings. Michael Jackson followed Alister Crowley's teaching and usage of spells the same way as many other artists like Prince, David Bowie, and the Beatles. Many unsaved artists get caught up in using evil when their top priority is fame and success. It is usually not until the end of their career that they come to regret their compromise.
The devil has tainted all music, white and black, to cause everyone to turn from God. Black music is no different. Going back to the days of Robert Johnson on Route 49 in Mississippi, where he claims to have sold his soul to the devil to help him play music and become famous. The devil has sought to separate black people from their Christian roots after slavery through the use of music. A long line of artists have produced music artists to lead the masses away from God. Ie. Little Richard, James Brown, Al Green, Prince, R Kelly, Beyoncé, Cardi B, and whoever is next in line seeking fame and the limelight. We have to remember to see this usage of music as spiritual warfare to turn the hearts of people from God while at the same time making them feel good. Jesus' return is imminent, so the devil is using music and everything else more intently because his time is short. We have to remember to pray. we cannot succumb to the music ourselves. We must also pray for the artists performing the music and the people that the music is played to. The power of the Holy Spirit can overcome it all. The Day is soon coming when our time on this Earth will be in the past and we will be in a new heaven with the new reality…
