The Television Altar
Anton Szandor LaVey was the first priest of the Church of Satan. He was very outspoken and direct about Satanism. This quote he made about television gives his perspective on the influence of the primary method of spreading Satanism and the occult. I like to analyze the tactics of the enemy to know the methods he uses and what to pray against. Christians need to know what those who work evil are doing and shed light on them. I find good information from people who have left the occult and Satanism to become Christians. They provide detailed information about how the enemy attacks Christians and how Christians are vulnerable. God has given us specific instructions on the things that displease Him. God didn’t explain why some things are forbidden; we have to trust His word in these matters. The affect of breaking God’s unexplained rules has devastating spiritual and physical consequences. People who have been delivered from the occult reveal many of the unseen effects of spiritual disobedience from a different perspective than some Christian. They have experienced how evil forces of the devil are empowered by disobedience against God.
Anton LaVey called the TV set the “Satanic family altar. He claimed that the doctrine of Satanism doesn’t have to be forced on anyone or preached. The doctrines and principles of Satanism and the occult are taught and illustrated in TV shows and movies daily. Every sinful act and sin that the Bible speaks against can be found on television and shown as entertainment. There are good television programs on TV that are informative and helpful. Christian programs help spread the gospel to rural and remote areas where people might not get the gospel. But unfortunately, the television’s potential to do evil has greatly increased over the years. Hollywood is become more emboldened to show more lewd and sexually explicit scenes on television. Many sinful acts on television are repeated by Christian and non-Christian because television shows are the primary source of entertainment in almost every home. It is also a distraction for adults and children alike. Even cartoons have become compromised with more and more frequent portrayals of lesbian characters. Cartoons like “Gravity Falls” repeatedly show satanic symbolism and themes in their episodes. There are TV shows that that are Satanic openly. They don’t attempt to hide the evil content. The debase level of what comes on television has come to a low stage of decency. Airing sinful lustful programing triggers a desire for evil. Everywhere there are TVs, evil and the idea of doing evil is being presented to everyone who view it. It's painfully obvious that those who make the programming decisions have evil intent and are anti-Christian. They will continue to put more evil content on the primary source of entertainment on our home until we as viewers speak out if against it. Christians in the body of Christ and the church as a whole can fight back by becoming more vocal. As long as Christians are silent, the programming transmitted to hundred televisions are going to get worse. I love a quote from Edmund Burke.

My pastor, Elder Stovall, used to call the television “the one eyed demon” in your home because of the antichristian shows. During the 60s and 70s it was very common for church pastors to speak out whenever an outrageous scene shown on television. You would sometimes hear directors or networks apologize for showing certain things that were offensive. The climate in the entertainment industry today is much different. It seems that what is acceptable moral for society is dictated by the entertainment industry more than the church. It even appears that the church seeks acceptance from society more than it seeks acceptance from God. This situation has put the devil in control of the media which is being broadcast around the world.
Many churches have been lulled to sleep with complacency. Pastors around the country are not addressing the threat of Television and social media. Opposition to the graphic evil on our TVs is missing from the church. I wonder what it will take before a united church body has had enough. At what point will Christians become infuriated and angered by the dark and evil entertainment industry. They have gotten a pass to show their evil programming too long. It’s time sermons about using the “Off” button on the remote start resonating from the pulpit.
It's time for the church to take a stand. Enough is enough. Church denominational leaders, bishops, and pastors need to band together to speak out against the godless programming that comes into our homes through television. There is strength in numbers. Millions of people, who claim to be Christians, could be a powerful force in our economy. Imagine how powerful the voice of the church could be in this country if they all began to speak together with one voice. If Christians around the country began to take a stand against the horrible things broadcast by Hollywood. They would have to listen or risk losing money. They may not agree, but at least they would be compelled to comply. I call on all Christians to contact your pastors and friends today to take a stand.
